Hacking the topographic ruggedness index

چکیده
The topographic ruggedness index (TRI) is widely adopted for the analysis of digital elevation models, providing information on local surface spatial variability. In this work, TRI interpreted according to a geostatistical perspective, highlighting its main characteristics and drawbacks. can be as an omnidirectional short-range variability index, computed pixel centered perspective. simplicity interpretability free from user-dependent selections, promoted implementation in several software environments application wide set case studies. However, has drawbacks earth sciences, such strong dependency slope (it basically average adjacent neighbor algorithm) selection different lag distances computation along directions diagonal ones. We propose new metric radial roughness (RRI) order solve but maintaining philosophy (i.e., perspective algorithm). corrects differences resolves trend using increments 2. code implemented R statistical language, test data are provided with paper (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7132160) promote other environments.

Ruggedness and Neutrality
Fitness landscapes have been proposed as a theoretical construct for investigating and explaining a range of phenomena from biology, physics and combinatorial optimization. A simple definition of a fitness landscape can be given as a triple (V, E, f), where V is a set of vertices, E is a set of undirected edges between the vertices of V, and f:V is an arbitrary function. The vertices of V are c...
متن کاملHacking the Body
Hacking the Body is a proposed collaborative research project that explores using the concept of ‘hacking’ to re-purpose and re-imagine internal signals from the body through DIY biosensors and soft circuits. This paper outlines definitions of hacking and how these apply to workshops exploring how to create these sensors.
متن کاملHacking the genome
If you want to hack the genome, you have to find a way to turn genes on and off at will. You have to be careful, though, since all cells have identical genomes. . . There are on the order of 10 cells in the human body. This population is made up of hundreds of unique cell types, each with specific molecular and cellular functions. Current gene therapeutic approaches involve treating disorders b...
متن کاملCognitive Hacking
In this chapter, we define and propose countermeasures for a category of computer security exploits which we call "cognitive hacking." Cognitive hacking refers to a computer or information system attack that relies on changing human users' perceptions and corresponding behaviors in order to be successful. This is in contrast to denial of service (DOS) and other kinds of well-known attacks that ...

Scheme,” Donald Davidson argues against the logical possibility of conceptual schemes. Believing it a remnant of the incomplete eradication of dogma in the empiricist tradition, Davidson wishes to undermine what he believes is the source of talk of conceptual relativism: the third dogma of scheme-content duality. Building on Quine, he constructs an argument intended to illustrate the peculiar p...
